Orecrest Proper is the capitol of Orecrest, and is often simply referred to by that name. The city is relatively new as it was completed near the beginning of the Generational War. The city was originally named "Cleftshorn" and was intended as a sister city to Cliffrest, seat of House Maskellian; it was already under construction when the mine at Orecrest Former exposed a passage to the UnderRealm. The Laserak began attacking miners and eventually ran nightly raids upon the city, forcing people to evacuate. It was decided that a fresh city with no political ties should be selected or build as the new capitol; Cleftshorn added new terraces and other major changes to the city layout to accomodate its role as capitol. Between the evacuation and the completion of Orecrest Proper, Raeisil served as the nation's temporary capitol.

Orecrest is built on 4 major levels: the Underfalls, the Mid Terrace, Upper Terrace, and Royal Terrace. The Underfalls, located beneath the city's main gates and outside the city's major fortifications, feature the city's docks and warehouses, as well as the "slummier" parts of town. The Mid Terrace contains most of the city's shops, inns, and residences, and houses the Upper Orecrest Mine entrance (the Lower is still located in Orecrest Former). The Upper Terrace is home to the city's finer establishments, as well as the Mining Hall, The Glory Vein, the Noble Quarters, and the Temple. The Royal Terrace seats the Palace itself.

As the capitol, the city does not server as a noble seat and features equal quarters for each House. House Linius currently rules, and the most influential Guild in this city is the Mining Guild.
