Ride down the escaped man
From Lord Of Utterdom
You swing up on your horse and ride quickly in the direction the man ran. You gallop across the road and into the open field on the other side.
The darkness grows as you get farther from your campfire, and your horse suddenly catches a root with his front leg, unseen to either you or him. It topples forward, sending you sprawling into the grass and sliding along on your face and belly.
You feel no broken bones, luckily, but the wind has been knocked from you and your cheek burns and stings from the flesh there being scoured raw by sliding along.
Just as you think you've escaped real danger, you see the third bandit step into view, brandishing his weapon.
Before you can get to your feet, he steps over you and runs you through. As you feel the piercing pain of his blade, you realize it was a foolish notion to go riding off into the night, but it's the last notion you have.
Your journey and your life end here.
THE END.
