Weapons and Armour: Bear Style is compatible with fighting gauntlets, spiked harnesses and artifact equivalents. It is not compatible with armour.

The Bear's first lesson is to fight to end the battle quickly. This charm may be activated after resolving damage from the martial artist's successful martial arts attack. The martial artist pays the cost to activate the charm and may make a clinch attack against the opponent that he struck, adding the successes from the damage roll as additional dice on the clinch attack.

A true student of the Bear is unrelenting. Any time the martial artist's opponent gains control of a clinch and attempts to break the hold, the martial artist may activate this charm and immediately attempt to re-initiate the clinch.

The bear understands its environment and is rarely perplexed by its opponent's obfuscations. This charm may be activated whenever the martial artist initiates a clinch. For the remainder of the clinch, the martial artist may apply DDV to attacks as normal.

The martial artist's movements become centered and sure, his grip becomes unbreakable. For the remainder of the scene, he adds his Essence in automatic successes to all clinch attempts and rolls to maintain control in a clinch. His clinches can do lethal or bashing damage and may reduce the bonuses which opponents receive for dogpiling by up to his Martial Arts score.

The martial artist toughens her skin with the essence of the mighty Bear. He gains lethal and bashing soak equal to his Martial Arts + Stamina, and lethal and bashing hardness equal to his Stamina until his next action.

The bear understands that the best defense is good cover. This charm may be activated in response to any attack made against the martial artist while clinched. The martial artist uses his clinched opponent as a shield, adding the opponent's Essence to his DV against the attack. If the attack misses, then it is immediately applied against the clinched opponent, just as though they had been attacked originally.

The mother bear is always there to defend her young. This charm may be activated in response to any attack made within the martial artist's (Essence x 10) yards. The attack is immediately redirected and must be resolved as though the martial artist was the intended target.

The bear is strength, and the student learns to channel that raw power into his own Essence. This charm enhances an attempt to crush an opponent in a clinch, turning post-soak damage into automatic levels of damage at a rate of 3 motes per die converted.

Often, smaller foes will attempt to overwhelm the bear with numbers, but a canny bear remembers that they are still smaller. While this charm is active, the martial artist may act and defend normally while clinched, and may maintain a number of clinches at once equal to his Essence without penalty. All clinch actions (Break Hold, Crush, Hold) and attempts to control a clinch are considered reflexive while this charm is active.

The bear understands that a predator will not survive a fight in which he is broken, even if he wins. This charm supplements a crush made as a part of a clinch, making it a Crippling attack. The martial artist rolls Strength + Martial Arts against a difficulty equal to his clinched opponent's Essence. If successful, the opponent suffers the effects of a Crippling attack as dictated by the Martial Artist.

Patience, the student learns, is the bear's greatest weapon. While this charm is active, the martial artists may reflexively spend 1 mote of essence during Step 9 of any attack directed against him and immediately make a reflexive clinch attack against the attacker.
