List Description
This list captures the recurring sports events that I most look forward to watching. Naturally, the list can vary from year to year when teams I like become eligible (for the World Series or Super Bowl for example), but I've tried to imagine years in which any competitors might be involved.
List
- The Open Championship (golf)
- The Masters Tournament (golf)
- The PGA Championship (golf)
- The BCS Championship game (college football)
- The NCAA Tournament (college basketball; particularly the first round)
- Wimbledon (tennis)
- The Stanley Cup Finals (hockey)
- The U.S. Open (golf)
- The World Series (baseball)
- The U.S. Open (tennis)
Offlist But Worthy Of Mention
Super Bowl, SEC Championsip, French Open, FBR Open, NBA Finals.
Notes
It's hard to pick between the first two. I have a slight preference for The Open just because the courses tend to be a bit more exotic. I also like getting up really early in the morning to watch. The U.S. Open golf tournament is slightly below the other golf majors because of the USGA's tendency to set unplayable conditions. The Stanley Cup finals would be higher on my list if hockey received more coverage during the year; I sometimes find myself "out of touch" with what is happening in the sport. However, the intensity of competition in the hockey playoffs rivals any other sport.
