The drastic difference of the two materials in this example of wand shows the unpredictability of the wand-holder. They seem to contradict each other, white pine being a very soft wood type, and dragon heartstring being the toughest core, often signifying stubbornness and power. The two mixed together give the wand-holder somewhat of a mixed personality. They're often very forward people, with a yearning for power. They show a unique sense of style, though cannot exactly be called elegant. Born leaders, they excel in most subjects, except for a lacking in art. Its Opposite: Oak with Unicorn Hair.

One word to describe Riley is spontaneous. You can never know what mood she's going to be in. And even if you think you've figured it out, it can change at the drop of a hat. Although, this is only out of the fierce loyalty she has for the ones she loves. She used to pretend not to care, but in reality, she'd always been quick to trust. Mainly because she wanted nothing more than for someone to be there for her. Someone she could love, and not necessarily in a romantic way. Of course, she'd never admit it to herself.
Now that she's found love, however, she's become a completely different person than she was little less than a year ago. She no longer sees love or emotions as weaknesses and she has begun to open herself up to people, despite the chance of being hurt. She puts others before herself, and this often causes her to fly off the handle at even the slightest insult to one of her friends. Just goes to show that you shouldn't mix an Irish temper with Hufflepuff loyalty.

Shoulder length brown hair with blonde chunks, although she likes to change her hair color on random whims. Sometimes it might be blonde, sometimes brown. It depends on her mood. Ah, the wonders of cosmetic charms. Hazel eyes. Very short. About 5'1”. Maybe. She’s rather fair skinned, because she physically can not tan. She’s got a healthy, dancers build.

Riley was the only child of muggle Gerald McGranahan and witch Corinne McGranahan. She lived in a small cottage in the outskirts of London. When she was 6 years old, her mother was (sadly) murdered by a pureblood fanatic. Ever since, her father's former acceptance of his wife's "kind" turned into hatred and hoped to keep his daughter away from all of it. When Riley got her letter from Hogwarts, her father, who had planned on hiding the wizarding world from his daughter, saw how excited she was to go to school where her mother did and relented. He took Riley to Diagon Alley to get her books and things. When the time came for her to finally leave, however, his fear overcame the wish for his daughter's happiness. He told her that she couldn't go to school. Riley fought it, of course. In the heat of the moment, Gerald told Riley that if she were to go to Hogwarts, she could never come back. Riley looked into her fathers eyes one last time and walked through the portal to Platform 9 3/4. When she got to school and made some friends, she was convinced that she made the right choice. Later on, when it was time for the students to leave for the summer, it finally hit Riley that she had no home to go to. After a talk with Professor Sprout, it was determined that Riley would work for housing and food at the Leaky Cauldron. Although sometimes she looks back on her father and wonders how life could have been for her, she has come to know Tom as a big brother and the Leaky Cauldron as her true home.
Despite the fact that she was left alone to raise herself, Riley seems to have acquired a family of her own. Professor Delame and Nearly Headless Nick are like fathers to her; Gideon and Amycus, brothers. Although she causes more trouble for the lot of them than anything else.
She's currently head over heels in love with one, Fabian George Prewett.
