Human
From Latt Series
Humans think themselves to be the superior creatures of the planet, the top of the food chain. However, in light of this new 'crisis', things have changed. Humans are now on the endangered species list. Less than 85% of the general population has survived - as humans, anyway - the release of several different strains of an unknown virus.
Humans are generally found in groups. Since the beginning of the crisis, a lone human has almost no chance to survive the hordes of other creatures. The human colonies are generally found in rural areas, as far away as possible from the cities. Humans are capable of doing many different things, depending on what they're trained to do. Generally, if they don't know how to do something, they can be taught.
Humans do use up a good amount of resources. They require a lot of water and food to remain in good health. Sickness is easily spread between members of a colony. Humans require fruits and vegetables in order to maintain the correct amount of vitamins in their body, and they require meat in order to get animal proteins. In the current situation, acquiring meat is difficult, and some humans have resorted to eating one another. There are chemical substitutes for the animal proteins, although they are only found in medical facilities or a place which would sell such things as a supplement.
Both sexes are generally weak, by standards of the other creatures found. They take a long time to heal from injuries, and are prone to infection. The young humans are even more frail than their adult counterparts, although the adults will protect their young at any cost. The advantages that a human has is that he or she is able to use weapons, and they are excellent at adapting to their environment. If a human has the resources, he or she is able to provide for themselves - especially if they're working together in a community.
However, they are hunted by all other creatures as a source for food. Either, as a physical source, as desired by the zombies, zombified animals, and the Hunters. Fire Walkers, Night Walkers, and Death Walkers all use the 'soul' of a human as a source of energy, needed to maintain their bodies and repair any damage done.
There are several classes of humans, each class specializing in different skills.

Civilians
Civilians make up the majority of people. They're able to do every-day tasks, though some of them may be trained to do specific things, such as cooks and farmers. They're generally not trained to use weapons, and if they are, it's limited to basic weapons such as a small variety of handguns and shotguns - although a few are actually trained in handling more complex firearms.
Police/Para-military Forces
Police and other para-military forces such as SWAT make up a small portion of the survivors. They're trained in using a certain extent of weapons, and in using body armor. Although they may also specialize in other tasks, as the civilians are, they're better put to use as guards for the colony, or perhaps an armed scavenger for supplies.
Military/Army
Very unlikely to be found, as they were mostly wiped out attempting to defend the cities from the hordes of zombies. If found alive, they're a good resource, as they're trained in almost all varieties of weapons, and they're familiar with urban combat. They would be one of the only groups of humans that could match the Fire Walkers, and then, only in a group against one or two of them.
EMS/Doctors/Nurses
A very important group of humans to have, as they're able to administer medicine and provide medical attention attention to the colonies and any friendlies. They may be found as part of the military group, as a medic, in which case they are trained to use weapons, but most often they'll be a nurse, or a doctor, who is completely unfamiliar with weapons. They're best kept protected.
