Lorane

From Lane Co Oregon

Lorane's economy was once based on logging and fruit orchards. The first postmaster named the town after his favorite niece in 1887. According to Harold Avery Minter in Umpqua Valley, Oregon and its Pioneers (page 42), this was the original route of the Applegate Trail.

The church was established in 1889, and the building was constructed in 1892. Like many others, it died at some point and was resurrected, this time with strength to keep going. The building still stands, with sections, including a front entryway, added since the original construction.
