Rolland Ernest Farnsworth was born March 15, 1919 in Spokane, Washington to ERNEST FARNSWORTH and HILMA CARLSON. In 1920, he was listed in the Spokane Census and by 1930 he was in the Springfield, Oregon census. He was still there between 1935 and 1936 when he was the editor of Springfield High School's publication The Sentinel. He enlisted as a private for "the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law"[1] in Spokane on May 25, 1942. He married Mary Buchanan on March 8, 1982 in Spokane, Washington. She was born March 21, 1921.
