Jonatha is on of the newest additions to the Kokoro world; a disaffected British teenager who looks like she has no reason for staying in Japan as long as she has. And yet, she stays- if not just for free pastries.

[edit] Before Kokoro
Jonatha grew up in Birmingham, England, so yes, she's a Brummie. Her mother was a psychic, and before she was born, she'd predicted that it'd be a boy and named him Jonathan; however, it ended up being a girl, hence the name was shortened to Jonatha. Her family was a bit on the poor side, with her mom being a psychic, therefore not earning too much and her dad a blue-collar worker. In primary school, it was found that she had inherited some of her mother's psychic abilities; however, she was teased about them so much that she ended up shunning them out of her mind. She was put in a Japanese immersion program in primary school and stayed in it until she was 14, when she went to Japan on a study abroad trip. She never came back.

Jonatha had been switching host families every six months or so until she was sixteen, when she was suddenly kicked out of her exchange family's home and had no where to stay. That was when she found the cafe; Elizabeth graciously let her stay at the cafe- more specifically, on the living room couch- until she could find a place to stay. However, even transferring from the awful school she was at to a much better one didn't yield any results on the home front (pun intended). Then she met Himeno, who had an apartment and was willing to share. She got a job and is splitting the rent with her. However, her constant attempts to get Himeno back to school without knowing her story are definitely grating on Himeno's nerves.
When Gamu was cleaning out the lab one day, Jonatha happened to be here. And, well, Gamu turned in to a plushie. Out of panic, Jonatha poured a bunch of chemicals on her. When she got turned back in to a human, Gamu had sustained severe burns, and Jonatha organized taking her to the hospital, as well as being one of the first people to start visiting her. After that, they started forming a close friendship, which was unusual for both of them.
Jonatha was the first person to officially know Cannoli was in love with Gamu. Amusingly enough, at that point she'd known Cannoli the least well out of everybody and attributed it to her psychic abilities slowly coming back. Cannoli ended up telling her his life story which was accidentally overheard by Gamu and Satou; Jonatha didn't overhear Gamu and Cannoli's confrontation, but she finds herself feeling resentful at both for hurting each other.

Jonatha is definitely someone of contradictions. She guards her emotions, but is open about her past. She acts like she doesn't care about school, when really it's the only thing keeping her in Japan. She adopts a devil-may-care attitude about everything going on around her, but she's stubborn and won't give up if there's something she wants to know. Her stubborn-ness is an unfortunate part of her; it's the cause of her almost finding out about the magical community a few times, and part of the reason she's so adamant about Himeno going to school. She's an extremely caring person, however that caring tends to translate into worrying. Not to mention that this worrying usually gets her worked up into a fury; she has a quick, volatile temper.
As of late, she's sort of regretting the fact that she doesn't have access to her psychic abilities anymore. She doesn't share this fact with very many people, but she's constantly trying to figure out how to get them back.
She's also somewhat known for her sometimes frivolously naive views on love. It isn't black-and-white to her, but it's much less gray than it is to most people.
Jonatha somewhat has a fear of going back home to England, because she doesn't get along the best with her family and she's afraid that if she goes she'll never come back. However, recently she accepted an offer made by her aunt to stay with her for a few weeks in the summer.

Jonatha has an uncanny ability to form very deep friendships very quickly. It's not so much her as it is the circumstances she's thrown into; the same way that circumstances have made her grow up too quickly.
Gamu and Jonatha formed something of an unlikely friendship when Jonatha accidentally gave her severe chemical wounds that landed her in the hospital for a month. Jonatha was the one who organized getting the ambulance, stayed with Gamu in the hospital (claiming she was her stepsister), and visited her multiple times in the hospital, even getting mad when she was discharged without her knowledge. Gamu was the first person Jonatha went to when rumors spread about her and a boy from school, and Gamu equally trusts her, though sees her as something of a kid for her slightly naive views.
Cannoli and Jonatha also formed this type of quick friendship. Jonatha almost immediately figured out Cannoli's feelings for Gamu, and thus for a short time she was the only one he could talk to her about them. Cannoli explained his past with Sumiko and Brix to her, and Gamu ended up listening; to an extent, they sorted out her feelings. However Jonatha has also been feeling slightly resentful toward both of them because of it...

As of late, Jonatha has found herself unwittingly starting to fall in love with Cannoli. Oh dear.

- Appearance: Jonatha is a rebel in all senses of the word. She cakes on make up and is almost never seen out of her beat up army jacket. She never wears shorts above her knees and wear boots 24-7. Her hair is a sight to see; her bangs are divided up in to two sections, one blonde with pink tips and the other red with slightly lighter streaks. The back of her hair is bright red, curly, and poofy, all with her black roots showing.
