Sykes Fairbanks is a fictional character of the imaginary animated series Thompson Colton: Agent of MI3, and is voiced by prominent actor Jeffrey Wright.

Fairbanks is an American immigrant to the United Kingdom, where his bank manager father was posted for a a few decades. During that period of time, he became friends with a certain English schoolmate during their time at St. Cadmus: Thompson Colton.

From a young age, Fairbanks was fascinated with communications and information technology. "How everything is linked by the touch of a button", as he wrote in his university thesis. Furthermore, he had a great love for mathematics. Fairbanks also had connections in the United States military, who realised his talent and summoned him home.

Back in the United States, Fairbanks was given stringent tests, before being accepted into the OSS (Office of Secret Services). There, he began as a switchboard operator, among the many new recruits who were cahrged with various small tasks. Fairbanks never seemed to mind, as "nobody starts out big in the intelligence community", as he would tell Thompson many years later.

Involvement

His abilities, however, shone through, and he quickly rose through the OSS ranks, eventually becoming Senior Communication and Messages Operator, or more informally, "The Controller of Signals". Nevertheless, he did not forget about his childhood friend "Tommy Colt", as Sykes often referred him as. In this role, he could help Colton, who had been promoted to 0011 in MI3.

Spoiler warning: OMG SPOILER! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

Sykes Fairbanks' first appearance was in the Season One episode "The Langley Deception", where his skills in wire-tapping and message interpretation aided Thompson Colton in rooting out the traitorous Agent John André, who had been selling out national security secrets to the highest bidder at the time. Other involvement also included "The Man in the Steel Mask", where he used voice-recognition technology to identify the aforementioned man.

Fairbanks was almost killed by Free Radical when he was thrown off a tall building. This, along with the injuries of his other comrades, caused Colton to be nearly driven over the edge.
