Dingaan Ngadla is the foe of the [[Thompson Colton|Thompson Colton: Agent of MI3]] episode "The Dogs of War", Parts I and II. He is voiced by Mos Def, famous for his appearance as Vivien Thomas in Something the Lord Made. Prior to his introduction to the series, he served as a recruit of the British Army during the Battle of El Alamein, representing the Nambutu peoples.

After the war ended, he appears to have rosen to lead the Nambutu People's Freedom Army (NPFA) and entered correspondance with the Soviet Union (or at least {at the time} Lt. Col Johann van Bushkov's faction.) The two then made arrangements for "both parties to benefit each other", as said by Lt. Col Bushkov.

Plot

Spoiler warning: OMG SPOILER! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!

The Soviet Union was short on precious electrum at the time, and it was known to them and few others that the otherwise poor colony of Nambutu had a large mine of electrum near the capital. They bribed Ngadla to lead a "phoney rebellion" against the ruling British class, and sell the mountain of electrum to the Russians for a large sum of cash (nearly ₤750,000, an enormous amount of money at the time.)

The first signs of their planned attack were when masses of AK-47 rifles, TT-33 pistols and RG-42 hand grenades were noticed being passed through Africa into the hillsides of Nambutu by British surveillance. Thompson Colton was ordered to investigate soon afterward. Discovering that Ngadla was planning an attack on Samedi, the capital of Nambutu, Colton stayed in the field to further follow their path.

Colton caught Ngadla on the telephone with one of Bushkov's aides, discussing the exact terms of the deal. Ngadla demanded more electrum, and Bushkov replied saying that were he to let them have more electrum, he would simply pay them less. Their increasingly loud conversation was recorded by 0011, and sent back to MI3 headquarters, who quickly gave him permission to stop the invasion, and tipped off the local authorities.

The attack was a failure due to the colonialists' preparedness, and Thompson Colton defeated Dingaan Ngadla in a fistfight of fury. Dingaan was rendered unconscious, and sent to the British High Court for trial. Found guilty, he is now on death row.

Quotes

  • Dingaan Ngadla: About our "agreement"...I would like to request that we keep slightly more of the...gold-silver.
  • Aide: Electrum.
  • Dingaan: Yes. So?
  • Aide: Ah...Polkovnik van Bushkov says...*murmuring*...that if you take ten percent more electrum, we shall reduce the payment to ninety per cent.
  • Dingaan: What?! Impossible! You filthy Soviets are indebted to me! Me! If I say more gold-sil..eel-lack-drum, we get more electrum. That is it! You...CANNOT do this.
  • Aide: Continue down this path, comrade, and soon you'll get no money.

  • Dingaan: Forward, comrades! Charge! Wash Nambutu with the blood of the colonists! We shall throw the chains of slavery off ourselves, and triumph! (Opens fire with a AK-47)

  • Thompson Colton: (Wipes blood off side of mouth) Why are you doing this? Why do you sell out your nation to the Soviets?1
  • Dingaan: (Throws a left jab, but misses) The gold-silver is useless to me! Money is! Money is all! If I sell the electrum to you, the Sovs will be angry! Do you think I have a choice?
  • Colton: You could have done so much more! (hits Dingaan in ribs) Selling your nation for the highest bidder is no good choice!
  • Dingaan: (Strikes 0011 to ground) Do you know what life is here?! Do you see the people dying on the streets?! Do you? With this money, I can heal this nation! I can save Nambutu!
  • Colton: (Kicks Ngadla off-balance, and gets up) Still, this was not the right way. My government...cannot...will not tolerate this.
