Help:User Subpages

From Jackcentric

All logged-in users have a user page (reached by clicking on their name) as well as a Talk page where other users can leave messages for them (reached by clicking the Discussion tab next to their user page). However, wiki regulars may find it helpful to have more than one page of their very own. You can do this by creating user subpages. Common uses for subpages include archiving talk pages that have gotten too long and working on draft articles out of the public eye.

To create a user subpage, decide what you want to name it, then create a link to it on your main user page. The subpage needs to exist in the User namespace, so remember to use the User prefix when you create the link. It should look like this: [[User:YourUserName/SubpageName SubpageName]]. (Repeating the page name will make the link look nicer.) Alternatively, if you're archiving old talk messages, you might want to create the link from your Talk page instead of from your main page.

You can then click the red link to create your new user subpage. Each subpage will have a link at the top of the page leading back to your main user page. However, keep in mind that user subpages do not have categories and are not automatically linked anywhere else. If you later erase the link from your main page, you might not be able to find your subpage again, unless you happen to remember exactly what you named it.
