Retaliation (2016) is an upcoming professional wrestling internet pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WIW. It will take place on May 1, 2016 at the Dahlberg Arena in Missoula, Montana. It will be the fourth event in the Retaliation / Revenge chronology.

Broken Bodies will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on WIW's primary television programs, Rage and ShowDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.

At SuperBrawl VIII, Daniel Mazurek defeated Martin McAlmond and Kevin McAlmond in a Triple threat match to win the WIW World Heavyweight Championship. The following Tuesday on Rage, Kevin McAlmond would be attacked and assaulted by Matt Borske and his stable The Authority of Wrestling. Later that evening during the main event match between new WIW World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Mazurek and MWA World Champion Matt Borske, Kevin McAlmond attacked Borske and cashed in his Money in the Bank Contract on Daniel Mazurek defeating him to win the WIW World Heavyweight Championship. On the April 8 episode of ShowDown, Kevin Hunter defeated James Burdick, and NGW Superstar Chris Gomez and Matt Hooper in a Fatal four way match to win a shot at the WIW World Heavyweight Championship. On the April 12 episode of Rage, Hunter would announce that he would get his shot at the title at Retaliation.

At SuperBrawl VIII, Dustin Simpson won a Multi-Man Ladder War to win the WIW International Championship for the first time in his career. On the April 8 episode of ShowDown, Mazurek attacked Simpson after an eight man tag team match and set his sights on Simpson's WIW International Championship. On the April 12 episode of Rage, Mazurek defeated Ryan Barnhart with interference from Travis Tipton to become No.1 contender to the WIW International Championship, he announced he wants his shot at the Retaliation event and Simpson accepted, the match was officially announced later that night.

At SuperBrawl VIII, John Borske cost Chris LaGreca his shot at the MWA World Championship. The following Tuesday on RageLaGreca attacked John Borske as he arrived to the arena, powerbombing him on top of a car hood. On the April 12 episode of Rage, it LaGreca challenged John Borske to a match at Retaliation and Rex Martin granted his challenge, officially announcing the match for the event.

On the April 12 episode of Rage, Rex Martin started a tournament where the winners will face The Doomsday and The Hoopers (who defeated the Doomsday on a previous episode of Rage) in a triple threat tag team match for the WIW Tag Team Championship at a later date. On the April 18 episode of Rage, it was announced that the finals of the tournament would take place at Retribution.

Travis Tipton blamed Ryan Barnhart for costing him the WIW International Championship at SuperBrawl VIII attacking him the following Tuesday on Rage. On the April 12 episode of Rage, Tipton cost Barnhart his No.1 contenders match. On the April 15, 2016 episode of ShowDown, Barnahrt attacked Tipton during his scheduled match, Rex Martin announced the match for Retaliation.

At SuperBrawl, the WIW Women's Championship was reinstated to WIW, the triple threat match between Ashley Holshue, Emily Marie and Brandi Cusker would be for the newly reinstated WIW Women's Championship, deactivating the WIW Divas Championship, during the match Kaila Matteson cashed in her Money in the Bank contract defeating then-WIW Divas Champion Holshue, Marie and Cusker in a Fatal four way elimination match for the vacant WIW Women's Championship. On the April 12 episode of Rage, Matteson defeated Holshue in a rematch for the title due to interference by Matteson's husband. Later that night Kevin McAlmond announced Matteson would defend the title against the newest diva to WIW, Courtney Hope attacked Matteson revealing herself to be the challenger as well as the newest The Enterprise member at the Retaliation event.

On the WrestleMania 32 Kickoff pre-show, Cam Dana defeated James Allred to retain the WIW United Nations Championship. On the April 22 episode of ShowDown, Allred defeated Dana in a non title match, due to outside interference by J&J Knockout Kings, earning a title rematch against Allred at Retaliation.

At SuperBrawl VIII, Jesse Dern won the Brian McAlmond Memorial battle royal. The following Tuesday on Rage, during Dern's victory speech he was interrupted by Charlie Lynch who claimed that Dern could win a match on his own, on the April 8 episode of ShowDown, Dern fought Lynch to a double-countout. The two would proceed to attack each other. On the April 18 episode of Rage, it was announced that Dern would face Lynch in a rematch at Retaliation.

Despite Rex Martin defeating John Lehr at SuperBrawl VII in a Hell in a Cell match where he would gain part control of Rage if he won, John Lehr continued to make demands of booking matches on the show. After four consecutive weeks, co-leader of the Enterprise Rex Martin agreed to meet with co-leader of The Authority of Wrestling John Lehr at Retaliation for a deal.
