The event will take place on May 17, 2014, at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, New York, United States and will air live on internet pay-per-view (iPPV) through Ustream.

War of the Worlds will feature a nine professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines. Wrestlers portray villains or heroes as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
