[edit] Background

Since its creation in 1988 by Hall of Famer and current Rage Genral Manager Rex Martin, the World War has been an annual event held by WIW and is typically shown on pay-per-view (PPV). The event is highlighted by the World match, a battle royal whose participants enter at timed intervals. The Greatest World War will feature the largest version of the match, having a total of 50 male participants.

On March 21, 2018, WIW scheduled seven championship matches for the event: the WIW World Championship, Heavyweight Championship, International Championship, United Nations Championship, Rage World Tag Team Championship, ShowDown Heavyweight Tag Team Championship, and Dynamites Championship.

[edit] Storylines

The card will comprise ten matches that resulted from scripted storylines and had results predetermined by WIW on the Raw and ShowDown brands. Storylines were produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage, Thursday Night ShowDown, and the cruiserweight-exclusive Dynamites Live.

[edit] Championship belt

File:GreatestWorldWarChamp.jpg
The WIW Greatest Royal Rumble Championship belt with default side plates

At the conclusion of the Greatest Royal Rumble, Mad Hanson was awarded a trophy and a championship belt. The role of this Greatest World War Championship, however remains unclear. According to WIW Sources, "the likelihood is that nothing that took place in the main event will have any effect on anything once WIW arrives back in the Montana region and resume normal service." Thus far, the belt has not reappeared on WIW programs.

The base design is similar to the current design of the WIW World Championship, with some differences. Instead of a large cut out of the WIW logo, the center plate is modeled with an Anarchy pattern with the WIW logo in the center. Like the WIW Championship belt and other belts introduced in 2016 and 2017, the Greatest World War Championship belt contains two side plates, both separated by gold divider bars, with removable round sections that can be replaced with the current champion's logo; the default plates show the official logo of King Teller International Stadium. The plates are on a green leather strap with a Anarchy logo across the straps.
