On the first day of 2013 Kapphan and Kessler announced on the WIW website that they want to now be known as Team Rouge Scholars. On the January 9, 2013 episode of Dynasty Kapphan and Kessler defeated The New Age Outlaws to win a future WIW Tag Team Championship match. On the January 16, 2013 episode of Dynasty the match was made official that Rouge Scholars would challenge for the WIW Tag Team Championship at the 2013 Royal Rumble pay-per-view against The New Age Outlaws. It was later announced that Kessler had taken time off to nurse a nagging neck injury.
