It was introduced on April 3, 2016, to replace the WIW Divas Championship, which had been introduced alongside the original Women's Championship in 2008, before the titles were unified under the Divas Championship name in 2010. The new WIW Women's Championship has a unique title history separate from the original a new, separate title that does not carry the lineage of the original Women's Championship. The title is currently held by Sari Pasma, who is in her first reign.

History

On April 3, 2016, various former WIW Women's Champion's appeared during the WIW SuperBrawl VIII pre-show and, after recapping the history of women's wrestling in WIW, unveiled the brand-new championship belt and declared that WIW's women would no longer be referred to as WIW Divas, but as "Superstars" just as their male counterparts are. This came after several of WIW's female wrestlers had viewed the Diva term as a negative as they felt it diminished their role in the company to "eye candy" rather than as athletes. She then announced that the winner of the Triple Threat Elimination match between Ashley Holshue, Emily Marie and Brandi Cusker later that night would become the first-ever champion. Kaila Matteson became the inaugural champion on April 3, 2016 after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract during the triple threat match.

The title was named after the WIW Women's Championship however the new title does not share the same lineage as the original WIW Women's Championship was merged into the WIW Diva's Championship in 2010 because WIW had long branded their female wrestlers as "Divas".

Reigns

Kaila Matteson is the the inaugural champion. She defeated defeated Ashley Holshue, Emily Marie and Brandi Cusker in a Fatal four way elimination match. The match was originally supposed to be for the Triple threat elimination match for the WIW Divas Championship, which was held by Holshue, but the title was retired with the unveiling of the new championship as well as Matteson cashing in her Money in the Bank contract.

The current champion is Sari Pasma on her first reign, she defeated Kaila Matteson to win the championship on the July 27, 2016 episode of Rage.
