No Escape will feature professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on AEW's primary television programs, Concussion. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension, and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.

As usual the main As is tradition at this yearly event, the card was highlighted by the 60-Men Wrestle War match, and for the first time this year's Wrestle War match will be for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship (the usual match is for a shot at the title at Superclash), many AEW superstars have already announced their participation in the match for this year.

Last month at the The Last Stand pay-per-view, reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish) defeated then-AEW Tag Team Champions the Power Players (MVP and Lashley) to win the AEW Tag Team Championship, however later in the night reDRagon were forced to defend the Tag Team Championship in a Fatal four way Tag team match against former Tag Team Champions The Miz and Austin Aries, The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor), Matt Sydal and Chris Sabin, with the Ascension winning the Tag Team Championship from reDRagon at the Last Stand PPV. On the March 30 episode of Concussion, it was announced that the Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) would defend the Tag Team Championship against the former champions, reDRagon]] (Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish)

In March 2015 it was announced that UFC Fighter, Conor McGregor had signed with AEW, on the March 30 episode of Concussion it was announced that Conor McGregor would face Finn Balor in a singles match at the Wrestle War pay-per-view.
