Background
- Main article: Professional wrestling
Clash of Champions will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on WIW's primary television programs, Rage. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
At SummerBash, Kevin McAlmond defeated Mikhail Schmalzried to retain the WIW World Championship. The following Wednesday on Rage, Chase Andridge confronted McAlmond and demanded a shot at the WIW World Championship at Clash of Champions, Rage Commissioner Glennda McAlmond booked a match later that evening with the winner receiving a shot at the title at Clash of Champions. Later that night, Chase Andridge defeated Aaron Schmazried to earn the shot at the title due to outside interference from Rick Pembroke. After the match, Mikhail Schmalzried confronted Chase Andridge. Rex Martin then decided that Mikhail Schmlzried would wrestle Chase Andridge the following week and, if victorious, would be added to the championship match at Clash of Champions.
At SummerBash, The Doomsday eliminated The Sons (Chibs Telford and Opie Winston) and The Hoopers (Matt Hooper and Josh Hooper), turning the fatal four way match into a regular tag team match, The Varsity Club defeated The Doomsday by disqualification. However, The Doomsday remained Tag Team Champions. On the September 7 episode of Rage, a rematch between the Doomsday and the Varsity Club was scheduled for Clash of Champions.
At SummerBash, Sari Pasma defeated Kaila Matteson by disqualification to retain the WIW Women's Championship, when McKaulie Matteson and Katie Axline (who was banned from ringside) interfered in the match. On the September 7 episode of Rage, it was announced that a rematch was scheduled for the event. Later that night, it was announced that Kelli Kerpa would face McKaulie Matteson as Allison Hunthausen would face Katie Axline with the winners of both matches being added to the title match at the event.
