+ | The main feud heading into No Mercy was between King Booker, Bobby Ashley, Batista, and Finlay with the four battling over the World Heavyweight Championship. At SummerSlam, the pay-per-view two months before No Mercy, Batista defeated King Booker by disqualification after Queen Tia interfered, resulting in Booker retaining the World Heavyweight Championship. The next week on SmackDown!, Batista along with Bobby Ashley defeated King Booker's Court (Booker, Finlay, and William Kapphan) in a 3-on-2 Handicap match. Booker's Court controlled most of the match, isolating Batista and Ashley from each other. Towards the end of the match, Ashley tagged in Batista, who ended up pinning Booker for the win after a Spinebuster. Two weeks later on the September 8 edition of SmackDown!, Batista faced Booker for the World Heavyweight Championship, which Booker won after Finlay interfered and hit Batista with a shillelagh. After the match, Finlay continued to attack Batista with the shillelagh and a steel chair. The next week on SmackDown!, Finlay began degrading Batista, saying he is probably hiding in a hole licking his wounds. As Finlay was about to continue, Lashley came out and said that only someone like him would jump Batista from behind. [[Authority Figures#General managers 2|SmackDown! On the September 8 edition of SmackDown!, Kennedy called out General Manager Theodore Long, and informed him that if Dustin Simpson comes to SmackDown!, he wants a spot on Raw; as Kennedy proclaimed that SmackDown! didn't interest him anymore because he had already defeated every top performer on the roster. This led to Long booking a match between an opponent Kennedy had never faced, that opponent turned out to be The Undertaker. The match was scheduled to take place at No Mercy. However, the Undertaker made his presence known to Kennedy, as he informed him, "I show no mercy, and you will rest in peace". Kennedy attempted to strike the Undertaker with his microphone, but the microphone suddenly blew up in Kennedy's hand. | ||

[edit] Background
The main feud heading into No Mercy was between King Booker, Bobby Ashley, Batista, and Finlay with the four battling over the World Heavyweight Championship. SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long then announced that, Finlay would face off against Ashley later that night to determine the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship at No Mercy. Ashley defeated Finlay and became number one contender after Finlay was disqualified for hitting him with a shillelagh. On the September 22 edition of SmackDown!, Ashley teamed up with Batista to take on Finlay and Kapphan. Midway through the match, Batista and Finlay brawled outside the ring and into the crowd, leaving Kapphan on his own against Ashley. Ashley gained the pinfall after hitting Kapphan with a Spear Later that night it was announced that Batista would face off against Finlay at No Mercy Two weeks later on the October 6 edition of SmackDown!, Booker faced off against Finlay and Batista faced off against Lashley, with both matches ending in a no-contest. This lead Theodore Long to make the one-on-one World title match at No Mercy, a Fatal Four-Way match.
The other main match on the card was Mr. Kennedy versus The Undertaker. [edit] Event
Before the event went live on pay-per-view, Jimmy Wang Yang defeated Travis Capps in a dark match. The first match that aired was the non-title match between the Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Beasly and Matt Hooper. After a back and forth match, Beasly took control until Hooper was able to counter a Shining wizard with a Twist of Fate. This allowed him to pin Beasly for the win.
Next was the IWE Tag Team Championship match between the champions Paul Burdick and Brian Woods, with Ashley Bates, and K.C. James and Idol Stevens, with Amanda Johnson. Burdick was pushed off the second turnbuckle to the outside early on, leading to the chllengers dominating, before Burdick tagged in Woods. Woods pinned James after a shooting star press to win the match for his team. The next match was Montel Vontavious Porter's (MVP) official debut. He wrestled Marty Garner in a squash match, and won by pinning him after a playmaker.
The fourth match was The Undertaker against the United States Champion Mr. Kennedy in a non-title match. Kennedy took control by hitting the Undertaker into an exposed turnbuckle and scoring a piledriver, but was unable to pin the Undertaker. Kennedy then brought the US title belt into the ring, but the Undertaker got hold of the belt and hit Kennedy with it, resulting in his disqualification. The Undertaker then Tombstoned both Kennedy and the referee, Charles Robinson.
The fifth match was the Falls Count Anywhere match between Scott Wright and Chavo McAlmond with Lynn Lehr. Wright and McAlmond soon started fighting on the outside of the ring and through the crowd, before Wright managed to pin McAlmond after a 619 and Crossbody off a guardrail. The sixth match was the encounter between Kapphan and his opponent, who was revealed to be Kevin Hunter. Hunter, who was returning after a five-month sabbatical, cut Kapphan open half way through the match after a headbutt. Hunter won by submission when Kapphan tapped out to the Crippler Crossface.
The main event was the fatal four-way match between the World Heavyweight Champion King Booker, and his three challengers Batista, Finlay and Bobby Ashley. An early team up saw Booker and Finlay take control early on, until Finlay attacked Booker and gained the advantage. The Little Bastard also interfered on Finlay's behalf. Ashley then speared Batista before he could capitalize. As everyone was down, Booker then crawled over on top of Finlay and pinned Finlay to retain the title.
