The WIW World Women's Championship is a women's professional wrestling championship created and promotion by the American professional wrestling promotion WIW on the Rage brand. It is one of two women's championships from WIW's main roster, along with the WIW (Heavyweight) Women's Championship on the ShowDown brand. The current champion is Ali Richards, who is in her first reign.

Introduced as the WIW Women's Championship on April 3, 2016 at SuperBrawl VIII, it replaced the WIW Divas Championship]] and has a unique title history, seperate from WIW's original Women's Championship and the Divas Championship. Kaila Matteson, was the inaugural champion, after cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase to be added to the match. As a result of the 2016 draft, the championship became exclusive to Rage with a subsequent rename and ShowDown created the Heavyweight Women's Championship as a counterpart title. It is the only WIW women's championship to have been featured in one of the headlining matches of a pay-per-view event, which was Halloween Hell 2016.

History

On April 3, 2016, various former WIW Women's Champion's appeared during the WIW SuperBrawl VIII pre-show and, after recapping the history of women's wrestling in WIW, unveiled the brand-new championship belt and declared that WIW's women would no longer be referred to as WIW Divas, but as "Superstars" just as their male counterparts are. This came after several of WIW's female wrestlers had viewed the Diva term as a negative as they felt it diminished their role in the company to "eye candy" rather than as athletes. She then announced that the winner of the Triple Threat Elimination match between Ashley Holshue, Emily Marie and Brandi Cusker later that night would become the first-ever champion. Kaila Matteson became the inaugural champion on April 3, 2016 after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract during the triple threat match.

The title was named after the WIW Women's Championship however the new title does not share the same lineage as the original WIW Women's Championship was merged into the WIW Diva's Championship in 2010 because WIW had long branded their female wrestlers as "Divas".

Brand designation history

When the championship was unveiled, there was no brand division as that had ended in August 2011. From its inception until the reintroduction of the brand extension in July 2016, then-champion Kaila Matteson defended the title on both Rage and ShowDown.
