The main feud heading into Countdown to Destruction features the World Heavyweight Champion, Martin McAlmond and the WIW Champion, Martin McAlmond, over who is the proverbial "face of the WIW". Ever since SummerSlam in August, Kevin McAlmond was engaged in a feud with Matt Borske over the WIW Championship, and owing his alliance to The Enterprise (Rex Martin and his sister Glennda McAlmond), In his title match at SummerSlam with Matt Borske with the WIW Championship on the line with John Lehr as special guest referee, Martin McAlmond would come out and accidentally hit Kevin with the World title which began a bit of dispute between the two brothers with them pushing each other around, Kevin McAlmond would retain the title against Borske. Also, on the December 4 episode of Dynasty, Nick Kessler defeated Theland Blackford to earn the right to face James Burdick for the latter's WIW International Championship at the Countdown to Destruction event.
