Austin made his debut in AEW on the first ever Concussion where he was defeated by Shawn Michaels in a Triple threat match that also involved Triple H. The next week on the October 10, 2011 episode of Concussion Shane McMahon "fired" Austin. Austin returned just one week after that, on the October 24, 2011 episode of Concussion where he faced Ted Dibiase, Jr. and wrestled him to a no contest. On the October 31, 2011 Concussion: Hallween special Austin fought Cody Rhodes to a no contest in a Finisher's Only match. On the November 14, 2011 episode of Concussion Austin fought Cody Rhodes, Robert Roode, and The Miz to another no contest in a Fatal four way match, after the match it was announced that Austin asked for his release from AEW.
Austin returned to the AEW on the December 12, 2011 episode of Concussion to defeated Jeff Jarrett in a standard wrestling match. On the December 19, 2011 episode of Concussion Austin was defeated by [[Christopher Daniels (AEW)|Christopher Daniel]s in a standard wrestling match.
