The Legacy was a villainous alliance of professional wrestlers in International Wrestling Entertainment. The group was led by Randy Orton and contained the tag team of Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. Manu and Sim Snuka were associated with the group in its early incarnation, but were never official members.

In June 2008, Semmler and Johnson first formed an alliance after winning the World Tag Team Championship at Night of Champions, when Semmler betrayed his original partner, Hardcore Murnion, to align with Johnson. Soon after, the pair tried to earn McAlmond's respect, which they eventually did. Together, the team helped McAlmond win the 2009 Royal Rumble match, giving McAlmond an opportunity to main event at WrestleMania XXV. The team also wrestled together in a tag team match to win the IWE Championship for McAlmond at Backlash. The team would help McAlmond win the championship three times over the course of 2009 despite a tumultuous relationship which saw McAlmond often physically attacking his two students. This led to McAlmond splitting from the group in early 2010. Semmler and Johnson eventually turned on each other in their match with McAlmond at WrestleMania XXVI, splitting up the trio.
