The 2017 Dallas Cowboys season is the franchise's 58th season in the National Football League, the ninth playing their home games at AT&T Stadium and the seventh full season under head coach Jason Garrett. For the first time since 2002, quarterback Tony Romo isn't on the roster, as he announced his retirement on April 4, 2017. The Cowboys will be attempting to return to the playoffs after successful rookie campaigns by Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott in the previous year.

On February 23, 2017, the NFL announced that the Cowboys will play the Arizona Cardinals in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The game will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. CDT, and will be televised by NBC. The two teams will also meet during the regular season at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
The remainder of the Cowboys' preliminary preseason schedule was announced on April 10.
