A Basic Overview
A Brief History
Originating from the distant continent of Haraas, a faction known as the Haraan Var were exiled from their homeland and sent off on a ship. The true reasons behind their exile have been lost, however, historians have surmised that they were exiled by the Church of Harass for being heretics. The Haraan Var sailed for two entire years, until finally landing on a large continent now known as Hearsyll. Founding a new nation with the sword, the Haraan Var became the Igmarins, shedding their old racial name—the Haraans (see below)—. For seven hundred years, the Igmarins have maintained a strong militaristic heritage, specializing in sword, spear and cavalry warfare. Through their conquests, the Igmarins have forged an empire spanning a continent and a half, and their military strength is unprecedented. No one has ever thought of challenging the Igmarin Military. At least, that is, until now...
Personality, Relations and Standing
Igmarins are an extremely disciplined race. They are generally tough as nails and never give up at a task if they feel they can do it. They have a reputation for being rigid and stubborn, and are notorious for their aloof and arrogant attitude towards any other race. Those who manage to become friends with an Igmarin will find that they have earned a friend for life, and Igmarins almost never refuse to aid a friend. When faced with difficult tasks, Igmarins throw themselves into it, and are often competent at improvising a solution to the problem at hand.
Igmarins tend towards the lawful axis on alignment due to their rigid lifestyle. The entire Igmarin lifestyle is centered around law, order and discipline, but renegades do exist. Many people tend to chafe under their rule because of the Igmarin society's rules and arrogant treatment of those below them. The Igmarin Empire maintains a teetering peace between other nations at best. They exist in a constant state of war with the Confederacy, and any individual residing within Imperial space and is known to be with the Confederacy is instantly executed.
Religion and Spirituality
Physical Description and Lands
Standing at an impressive six feet (on average), Igmarins cast an imposing figure. They are also easily distinguished by their black skin and loose black hair. Igmarins are built muscularly, appearing chunky in appearance, due to their well developed muscles. They tend to weigh about 170 lbs. at the minimum, and generally max out at about 290 lbs. Igmarin clothing tends to be cut sharply and is very utilitarian and conservative in nature, almost identical to a military uniform in appearance. Although few and far between (due to a lack of common natural talent in magic), Igmarin spellcasters tend to shed the traditional robes of a mage and replace it with the same militaristic outfit.
The Igmarin Empire is the dominant power among the lands. While suspicious of strangers, most useable Igmarin land is in the form of farmland. They typically live in plains areas to raise horses, but communities involving hunting, forestry and sailing are known to exist. Igmarins are also known to herd animals and are excellent at agriculturally related things.
Languages and Names
Igmarins speak a short, consonant heavy dialect known as Igpharl. Its written form is very short and concise, and is written right to left. Since Igmarins are practical in nature, the language is generally used to convey messages, rather than poetry and literature* (*exceptions do exist). Igmarin children tend to be named in the Roman style (Julius, Juliet, Julian, Julia, etc.), however names could be anything, since local province naming conventions are often used, which could result in a variety of names when translated between provincial dialects.
