Nemonos City, is the largest city in Nemonos State. It is the financial and economic hub of the state. The Nemonos metro area also contains 3/4 of the total state population. Officially the population of Nemonos City is 428,000 while the larger metro area is over 826,000.

History

Nemonos City was founded in 1960 as a utopian escape from the sprawling cities elsewhere in the US. This did not last long as market forces soon resulted in Nemonos moving to a more traditional style of urban development. The creation of the Nemonos Regional Transportation Authority in the early 1960s resulted in an extensive expressway network that further propelled development outwards.

In 2007, the City of Nemonos changed its name to Nemonos City to avoid conflict with the State of Nemonos. Also in 2007, Nemonos City merged with the adjacent city of Maple Heights to form a larger more efficient municipal organization.
