From Innovationclass
(obviously I'm still working on figuring out some of the editing features, i.e. links, but I thought I'd put this stuff up anyway. I plan to continue editing the 'why I've chosen to research Tivo' section as well.)
I've chosen to research Tivo as my innovative company because I am interested in the direction of television and know that Tivo has changed - and will continue to change - television as we've known it.
Throughout the history of television, there have been several changes that have dramatically altered television (VCR, cable, etc). Tivo will change advertising in television and this alone is a transition worth researching. Tivo has been innovative in a significant way already and I am interested to see what the next steps will be.

Blogs on Innovation:
[3] This blog is about implementing 'open innovation' business models and discusses the creation and management of innovative networks/businesses. This blog is relevant for it discusses a lot of what we focus our class around: what the challenges of innovation are and real application of innovation. I chose this blog because it has a lot of information/links that discuss the application of innovation.
[4] This blog is about customer centric thoughts from "experts" in marketing, strategy and innovation. This is relevant for innovation is only innovation if it changes the way a group of people react, live, communicate, etc. and that is what this blog focuses on. I chose this because I believe that a consumer centric discussion of innovation can be extremely productive.
[5] This blog focuses on innovation in journalism - specifically print journalism. This is relevant for innovatins in journalism have a direct link to how people get news and are informed. I chose this blog because, as a news-ed major, I have an interest in how journalism itself is innovating (or not).
[6] In this blog, the author tries to define what innovation is and what it is not. This is relevant because that is what much of our class discussion has been about. I chose this because I am still trying to define innovation for myself and am interested in seeing perspectives that may help (or hurt) my own process of trying to understand what innovation is.
[7] ly_path_to_nowhere.php This blog discusses the question "How do you cultivate and harness innovation in large, distributed environments?" This is relevent for our last assignment delt in large part with this very question. I chose this because I believe that trying to answer this question could lead to discoveries about innovation and how to use it.
[8] This blog discusses the hierarchy of innovation in companies. This is relevant for in some work places, a hierarchy has been formed and it is necessary to realize this before trying to solve it. I chose this because one challenge of innovation is the stiffling of ideas due to hierarchy.
[9] l-web-tools-social-change This blog is about a 'social innovation camp' that strives to cultivate ideas and make actual social changes. This is relevent because a camp or group dedicated to finding innovative ways to alter communication socially is a testiment to the importance of innovation in many aspects of daily life. I chose this because it was interesting to me that a group that is desiring social change is interested in exploring innovation.
[10] This blog explores innovation economy. This is relevant for innovation exists in many aspects of life and exploring these ways is important to understand innovation as a whole. I chose this blog because the issue of an economy of innovation is very interesting and important.
[11] This blog talks about innovation coming to a national spotlight and innovation in areas not traditionally associated with it. It is releveant because it's important to see the big reach of innovation. I chose this because it also discusses a blog of innovation, which is important - collaboration and critique in an innovative community.
[12] This blog discusses innovation in politics and the reach of innovation. This is of course relevant as we will have a presidential election this November. I chose this because it is important to look at innovation in social issues and innovation's affect outside of the US.
