Innovative Organization Proposal

From Innovationclass

My organization proposal for a company with 25 employees strives to maximize creative freedom and productivity simultaneously. To be innovative with an organizational structure, I recognize that the employees will be put into a new and different environment than previously experienced. The challenge then is to avoid making the transition awkward for the employees and for it to be embraced nearly immediately.

For this, my first plan of action is to be deliberate in which employees I choose. Of course want the most qualified employees but it is also important that they are diverse in gender, race, religion, etc. Not so diverse that there is no common ground or ability to feel interconnected, but diverse enough to where ideas are challenged, extended and encouraged.

A central office with work stations set in a circle would be a main work area where groups could work together, share ideas and motivate eachother. Additionally, workspace would be provided so that employees have the option could work in solitude if desired (providing options for music, no music or just to focus in whatever way works best).

Another space would be designated as a room to relax if a break is needed. A gigantic fishtank with a few tables and a corner of softness, i.e., love sacs, pillows, clouds and beanie babies. Catered lunch would be provided - employee-to-employee.

Employees would be encouraged to bring anything necessary to make them feel comfortable and increase productivity.

Natural light would be optimised and bathrooms would have that really good soap.

Groups of four would be assigned for projects and rotate. There would be one supervisor that could field questions and help out in group projects if necessary. Thissupervisor may rotate as well but no one would be forced into that position if leading is not a strong suit.

Ideally, each employees' skill set would be optimized while also being challenged enough to extend the employee and to help him/her grow.

Additionally, a gold star system would be installed along with insentives.

Accountability will be key. I feel that when an employee has other employees depending on him/her and for the work to be of the upmost quality, excellent work will be produced.

In and of themselves, these ideas may not be innovative for an organizational stucture, but when put together, I believe would create an innovative work structure that would encourage creative productivity while still optimizing productivity.
