Suradia is a self-governing Kiravian colony.

History

Though the time of discovery is unknown, the first Kiravian settlers in Suradia arrived as a mass immigration in 19838. The colony had excellent soil, and a mild subtropical continental forest climate that was excellent for farming. Suradia quickly became a considerable agricultural export colony.

Society

Suradia's chiefly agricultural economy has created a stratified class system, based on occupation and land ownership. The lowest class is made up of the working poor day labourers and other non-permanent personnel. Above them are permanent farm labourers. THe next rung on the societal ladder is a proletariat of people who rent poor-quality mountain or forest land to farm, and a class of non-agricultural plantation workers involved in processing, machinery matenance, and construction. Sharecroppers, small-time farmers, buisnessmen, and other such persons make up a vaguely defined collection of middle classes. Plantation owners dominate the upper echelon.

Economy

Suradia's economy is based on production of agricultural products for export to Kirav.

Cale, wheat, various maizes, barley, tobacco, flax, and hundreds of other crops are grown in the colony. Indigo and Cotton are emerging as important cash crops. Very little animal-based agriculture occurs.
