The Kiro-Mahakwa Republic of Neuthena, is a Kiravian colonial republic.
History
The Mahakwa people came to the island of Neuthena twelve thousand years ago. Although agriculture had been developed, the Mahakwa diet was based on hunted meat. Environmentally conscious, the Mahakwa hunters would spend the spring and summer hunting on the Komdu-Sæll archipelago in the north, while allowing the animal populations of their homeland to replenish. On one fateful hunting expedition to the Komdu-Sælls, they encountered a settlement of Kiravians. The Kiravians taught the Mahakwa how to preserve meat with salt, and, in exchange, the Mahakwa allowed Kiravian ships to fish off of their island's coast.
Seasonal fishermen began arriving on the Mahakwa island, which they called Neuthena, and setting up fishing camps. Over time, these camps became permanent settlements to service ships and process fish. Other Kiravian settlers, permanent fishermen, potato farmers, and the buisness class, arrived soon after. The Kiravian settlement of the island led to raids on the settlements, and ambushes of Kiravian militamen. However, the mutually beneficial intersocietal relations between the two cultures won out, and, under the Treaty of Ottersea, Neuthena became a Kiro-Mahakwa Republic, with equal rights for citizens of both origins.
Neuthena joined the Empire and became a self-governing colony in 21856.

Neuthena's economy still remains based on trade, fishing, and small-time farming. Tourism is a growing industry.
