History
The island was used as a way station for Kiravian supply lines to its fleet aiding Nova Pictavia during the First Utopian Crusade. When the war was over and the UC founded, the island was again used as a way station, but this time for trade vessels.
Today, the island serves as a refueling stop, meterological station, Coast Guard Outpost, and heliport. A radio station for boradcasting weahtt reports and Kiravian media to Europa Atlantica is also located on the island.
Geography
Inmyar is 240km² in area. Its land area consists wholly of Inmyar I., and there are no otlying islands or sandbars. Consisting of two ellipic bulges of land, linked by a narrow ithsmus, the Island resembles the shapes of Jan Mayen and Miquelon.
The southern bulge, known as Inya, is home to Roilsar, the principal settlement and capital. It is made up of a largely eroded mountain, and a skirting, steep plain around the coast. The northern bulge, named Whydurtha(White Fang in Coscivian), is home to only 30 people. It consists of a green mountain slope, like Inya, but above the treeline is the snow-capped peak of Mount Sealsund.
The island has a cold maritime climate, with severe winters. Its distance from the continents, however, keeps the surrounding seas free of ice.
In the areas of the island warm enought to support plants, the vegetation consists of spruce shubs, tundra brush, and grasses. Various species of pine adapted for Inmyar's climate have been introduced by the Kiravians.
Demography
Inmayar has a population of 500.
Most of these people are either working for, or have a family member involved in the Imperial Military, Kiravian Metorology Service, the radio station, or related agencies.
The population has remained much the same as it has been for the duartion of its inhabitation. However, 42 more people have gained Inmyaran citizenship and residence in the last 5 years.
The people of the island are 70% Cosciv Kiravians, 10% Khar Kiravians, and 20% are Pictish, Echoese, West Scandian, or other local Europa Atlanticans that have been hired into the island.
The Kiravians on Inmyar belong to a variety of ethnic groups. 30% are Vrytev, 10% are Kirverdan, 10% are Scädev, and the remaining 40% belong to smaller presences, including Skatchrev, Xiryan, Kalth-Ieurlev, Kalistav, Aeonaran, Echo-Kiravian, Corçev, and Native Kiravian.
Education
The island is home to 1 highschool, a small public college offering mostly distance courses, and one small, private institution for the study of Europa Atlantican languages. In total, 10 Inmyari are involved in education as their primary occupation. Elementary education is mostly provided through homeschools.
