In Portugal, one of the most used strategies to increase loyalty to a specific brand is the customer loyalty card programs. Loyalty cards have become an increasingly sophisticated marketing strategy in recent years.

These cards entitle the client to either a discount on the current purchase, or an allotment of points that can be used for future purchases.

Loyalty programs are structured marketing efforts that reward, and therefore encourage, loyal consumer behaviour in the expectation that corporate objectives will be met.
