Although it says that the main purpose of journalism is to state the true information, the journalists work and belong to their own companies, which compete between each other, and tries to represent the most attractive and impressive information for people eyes. But still it remains more trustful information comparing with advertising.

Advertising and publicity are extremely complementary. As for example, magazine could write about your track record, service or product and at the same time in another page would plastered your advertisement. The article posted in the magazine, newspaper or showed through TV gives much more credibility of company’s services and products.

Advertising versus publicity.


Advertising is one of the most seen things in a public places, television, newspapers, internet, etc. There are different ways of advertising in Lithuania:

1. World-of-mouth – when people tell their friends about the benefits of products or services that they have purchased. This virtually advertising is probably the most effective non-paid advertising.

2. Some companies hire advertising agencies to create an advert of their product or service.

3. Counter-cyclical advertising – this from is used in a companies in case to avoid advertising wars with their competitors.

4. A build board (a poster on a boarding (U.K.)).

5. A newspaper advert.

6. A TV commercial.

7. Radio commercial.

8. A cinema advert.

9. Sponsorship’s adverts.

10. A sandwich board, etc.
