Ion+anthos: IMHO diminutives aren't bad. What it bad is the irregular way that some languages use to form them. If there is a simple regular way, e.g. little/big + noun for every noun, there should be no difficulty in usage.
Ion+anthos: Do you mean noun capitalization should be forbidden or should be used to mark nouns? This is a forbidden list. BTW capitalization can only mark nouns in writing. If we want to mark them in speaking we better use a short affix.
