The Westminster system is a Fortress System of the Terran Sphere, and contains only one world; Vortigern, is a blasted wasteland with an average temperature of 59 degrees celsius. Having originally been marginally capable of supporting life, the Alliance government decided to forgo the customary terraforming and simply convert the world to use immediately. Thus, the only truly inhabitable area of Vortigern are the crowded polar areas, home to 32 Million inhabitants. This has allowed the Alliance military to put the system's large empty spaces to good use; Vortigern's wastes serve as a training school for the Alliance Marine Corps Vortigern counts for over 25% of the marine corps' annual intake of recruits, most wanting to get off their broiling hellhole of a homeworld if nothing else.
