Timeline
December 19, 2048 AD: Initial Monosian Bombardment, stretches of Russia, North America and Western Europe are devastated, leaving over 600 million dead.
2049-2056: Monosian invasion fleet arrives, the combined militaries of Terra's nations are pushed back to a small area around Hong Kong.
June 2051: Due to strong guerilla resistance in the region, large parts of Afghanistan and Northern Pakistan are systematically "purified" of all corporeal life by the Monosians.
March 29. 2056: An SAS team under the leadership of Major Albrecht Tannenburg steals an automated Monosian transport and uses it to make first contact with the Vykkians, an advanced race hostile towards the Monosians.
July 12, 2056: Major Tannenburg is able to persuade the Vykkian Circle of Cognitors to intervene directly in humanity's favour. A Vykkian fleet is dispatched, and the Mydeans, the allies of the Vykkians are informed.
August 9, 2056: The Vykkian fleet arrives in orbit around Terra, the unprepared Monosian forces are annihilated.
2057-2084: Terra rebuilds and builds six space stations in other star systems thanks to the FTL technology provided by the Vykkians. Some Terrans decide to leave and travel as far from all known space as possible, claiming reconciliation with the Monosians cannot be acheived in any fashion, and that humanity's alliances with the Vykkians and Mydeans is a mistake.
June 2060: Among some of the departing Terrans is a group lead by retired Colonel Acubierre Holt. The group is caught in a devastating spacial anomoly and destroyed. Upon investigation, it is reported that five ships among the group of 34 are missing.
September 1, 2084: A massive fleet of Terran, Vykkian, and Mydean vessels depart from Terra to attack the Monosian homeworlds.
October 10, 2084: Retribution Day, the Terran fleet punches through the Monosian defences and the 412nd Strategic Bomber Group under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel Katrina Leonis annihilates the Monosian home system with a gravitic inversion device. Defeated, the Monosians are herded into a refugee fleet and driven from known space.
2086-2094: The Terran government is reformed into a more centralised system, ending up as a feudalised republic. Albrecht Tannenburg is named Duke Strathcona, and the Vykkians convey the honourific of Akra'kae or "Stormraider" to Katrina Leonis and to all her family.
2092-2095: The Terran Civil War is fought between the Moderate Barony Lords, led by Duke Marshal Albrecht Tannenburg-Strathcona, against the extreme left-wing neo-stalinist Red Bloc. The Barony Lords win partially due to Duke Strathcona's strategic genius and exile the members of the Red Bloc to the edge of known space, where they form the People's Empire of Antares.
January 5, 2096: The Treaty of New Sarajevo is signed, founding the Alliance of Free Sentient Worlds, but commonly known as the Terran Alliance, because the treaty was signed on a Terran colony and Terran diplomats suggested the idea in the first place.
2097: Several Mydean war-prophets rebel against the new alliance and form the Order of the Karna'slo'van (The Slayers of Outsiders). The alliance immediately declares war on them.
2097-2230: The "golden age" of the Terran Alliance, despite being set upon on all sides by enemies, the Alliance's nearly unstoppable fleets and armies keep the peace in the core worlds for more than 130 years.
April 9, 2181: Milgar Tannenburg-Strathcona is born.
October 10, 2191: Cataphrak Leonis-Stormraider is born.
2208: The Second Monosian Incursion, Commander Milgar Tannenburg-Strathcona and Cadet-Pilot Officer Cataphrak Stormraider distinguish themselves in battle and are promoted to Captain of the List and Flight Lieutenant respectively.
2011: Captain Milgar Strathcona is assigned command of the new carrier AWS Furious Thundercloud, by coincidence, Wing Commander Cataphrak Stormraider is assigned to the Furious as the Fighter Group Commander.
2015: Milgar Strathcona is promoted to Admiral and given the command of the 5th Alliance Battlefleet, with the Furious Thundercloud as his flagship. Cataphrak Stormraider transfers to the fleet and is given the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
November 9, 2215-July 6, 2216: The Vengalis Incident, the 5th Battlefleet discovers the artificial planet Vengalis and Cataphrak spends nearly a year readying the world to join the Alliance. For his efforts, he is promoted to Captain and given command of the AWS Furious Thundercloud, Admiral Strathcona moves his flag to the superdreadnought AWS Formidable Nemesis.
