Magic System VC2

From Hyfenwiki

Magic in Variant Cappa 2 is a complex system with several individual parts, some that don't even connect to each in any other manner other than that they are manipulated via the "art of magic." The three main systems of magic within the overarching Magic System VC2 are Life Force (magic itself), Aura, and Pure Life Force.

Life Force

Aura

Aura itself is a difficult thing to define exactly, but the closest descriptor is “a combination of ambient life-energy unique to an individual, and the individual’s personality and temperament.” What can “ambient life energy” be, you ask? Well, quite frankly, I have no idea, but it is linked to magical ability (whether the individual can use magic or not is irrelevant), pure life force of an individual, and the nature of what one may call “the soul.” Auras CAN change, but if one were to consciously attempt to change their aura they’d have to:

  • Change their behavior
  • Change their lifestyle
  • Change the way they actually think and view the world, a next to impossible feat as it’s not exactly easy to change the way your brain works
  • Magically alter the flow and form of their ambient life energy.

There are several main types of auras.

Yellow

Yellow auras are defined by innocence. People with this aura are ruled by their emotions. The vast majority of yellow aura’d people are children. Their view of the world is simple, and people are unconditionally good. Many yellows are idealists with a very optimistic view on most things. In adult yellows, you will usually find ditsy, clumsy, and/or bubbly people, though yellow auras are not exclusive to those kinds of people. Yellows are usually very naïve, be it because of stupidity or simple inexperience. Yellow auras tend to be very weak in magical arts.

Subtypes of Yellow

White

White auras tend to portray a holier-than-thou attitude, or view themselves as the reason for what happens around them. This may not be because they are narcissistic or rude, but because they simple do not know how to empathize with others.

Gold

Golds are perhaps the rarest of all auras, and are generally considered to only be had by gods or other mythical figures. Golds, unlike whites, are very empathetic.

Orange

Orange auras a combo of yellow and red, and can be considered as a “wiser version” of the yellow aura.

Green

Green auras are heavily influenced by a theme of innocence, similar but not quite the same as yellow auras, as some green aura’d people can be rather dark at some point in their lives. While emotions tend to play extremely large roles in decision making and behavior, a green is conscious of the effect their emotions play in their lives MOST of the time (not ALL the time), and are capable of ready use of logical thinking skills. Like real colors, green aura is somewhat of a combo between yellow and blue. Green auras are by far the most common, and span all age groups.

Subtypes of Green

Mint

Mint auras are perhaps the most heavily influenced by the “innocent” theme. Many of the stereotypical weak heroines of plays (i.e. a sickly girl realizing her abilities, a shy princess overthrowing a powerful evil lord to help her people/friends) define this aura very well.

Brown

Browns are very hearty, and usually very deep, though they appear to be rough, crude, and unrefined.

Forest

The least “innocent” of the greens, forests are often people who personify what can be called “the Renaissance Man.” They are a perfect balance of logic and emotion, they are neither dominated by sadness or happiness, and are equally optimistic and pessimistic.

Jade

Very similar to forest, but with less of a refined inner balance. Strong in all areas of character, but with decided leanings in certain directions. While definitely in control almost all the time, a jade may find a few moments of emotional outbursts in their lives, that is both very recognizable and revealing to others. While jades appear to be what people would expect from forests, most people will acknowledge the differences if given the chance to compare a true pure forest aura to a pure true jade.

Blue

Blue auras are defined by calm and coolness. Many logical people are blues, as well as people who always seem to maintain their “cool,” or remain level headed in a variety of circumstances. They acknowledge emotions, and many will not hesitate to involve their emotions as just another part of their life. For some more extreme blues though, it is merely another variable to be computed in the vast web of daily life, which is always a massive calculation, waiting for the blue’s brain to figure out, if it hasn’t already. Oddly, many blue aura’d people tend to be young. Blue auras in human populations tend to be the strongest users of non-instinctual magicks. It is almost recognized by anyone who specializes in the study of auras as impossible for a blue to change or become any other aura.

Subtypes of Blue

Cerulean

Noted by pessimistic attitudes, and quick wit. Emotions are normally repressed, with outlets for emotions almost consciously chosen. Strong emotions may still show through unplanned however, in some circumstances. Ceruleans do not actively attempt to calculate everything around them, and can sometimes become frustrated by an apparent inability to do so, but if given even a brief moment to clear their minds or perhaps given the chance to participate in a releasing activity, will become very clear.

Indigo

The epitome of hardest, most genius, logics blues. Emotions are irrelevant, or at best an unimportant factor to Indigos. Everything can be computed in advance, given the right set of variables. Many indigos are incapable of understanding why other people cannot grasp or comprehend what the indigo him/herself can.

Periwinkle

Peries fit the “calm and collected” side of the blue aura to a T, but may not be considered quite as “intelligent” as their indigo or cerulean siblings. While still sharp, these blues tend to be somewhat more laid back. In extreme cases, they may be so “laid back” that you end up with a sloth.

Red

While all auras have sub-groups, red auras are generally recognized as either one or the other of its two biggest subgroups: Maroon and Pink. All red auras tend to be very outright and forth spoken, with the occasional odd-ball shy red. Whether or not they ARE outspoken, reds, be they maroon or pink, are extremely emotional (though maroons tend to have a considerable degree of more control). Be it because of arrogance/pride, or ignorance, most reds do not tend to “connect” to other people; or, if they do, it is in an odd way (everybody is a tool to be manipulated, and I will not allow personal feelings to cloud that fact; everybody worships me because I’m sooooo popular and lovable, so why don’t you love me?; etc.) Elements common from both pink and maroon often bleed into each other, causing the few aura specialists in the world to debate over whether or not reds should really be divided into the two groups of pink and maroon in the first place. Another topic of debate is the fact that red auras do not strictly adhere to a common way when it comes to goals. Some reds do not have goals at all, and simply float from event to event in their lives, while others live to fulfill goals, and are so goal oriented that they will stop at nothing to achieve them, and recognize that it is ruining their lives.

Maroon

Maroon auras are often considered the “villains,” or “evil.” Morals and/or traditional ethics are of little, if any at all, interest to them. They tend to be very ambitious, sometimes to the point of obsession. While not all maroons are per se “villains,” they do tend to be off track and misunderstood, as they follow their own moral/ethics code, and don’t care if others think it’s wrong or right. In a way, the maroon is a super-potent form of the blue aura, but alienates itself from the blue aura by the fact that emotions are VERY strong in the red aura overall. The strongest emotion in the maroon is anger.

Pink

Contrary to popular belief, pink auras are more common in males than females in a ratio near 3:1. Pinks are very dramatic, and can sometimes be very clichéd or stereotypical. They may be the helpless romantic, or the hunky play-actor that all the fangirls are screaming about. If not overly dramatic, pinks may otherwise be very sentimental, reminiscing, or eccentric. Most pink auras are found in older people, but it is a small difference between majority and minority. Pink auras are without a doubt the easiest to change away from, and are highlighted by love and romance, very much unlike its maroon sibling.

Other Red Subtypes

Rust

Rusts are often more “stable” than other reds, and tend to contain median measures of the factors that make up the red aura. Confident, but not arrogant, determined, but not obsessed. A temper, but not a rude lunatic. Rusts also tend to be the most down to earth of the reds. They may be seemingly overly critical of others at times, but can get along with and “connect” to others better than other reds.

Mahogany

Mogs are stereotypical reds, but are often, mysterious, suspicious, clandestine, and secretive. Some mogs may even appear to be overly paranoid, or have ulterior motives to everything they do. Some may be simply shifty and appear to be untrustworthy.
