On the outside, Chloe makes the immediate impression of, to quote the Rolling Stones, being a man of wealth and taste. Sophisticated and stylish, he is the charmer of his group of friends, flirtatious and eloquent. He has a penchant for the dramatic, and an outspoken appreciation for things of beauty, physical, spiritual, or otherwise. He can be snobbish and disdainful at times, and is sometimes mistakenly thought of as somewhat superficial.
Inside, however, is a man who has seen what he believes is true evil in the world, and there lies a desperation to set things right, to cleanse the world of such ugliness. Despite his playful attitude, he is deadly serious when it comes to defending the innocent, and will happily set his life on the line if it means achieving something beautiful and meaningful.

Born in a small town in Romania, living there with his father, mother, and brother, under the name Edward Krotznik. His childhood was simple, but happy. The only remarkable thing about it was that sometime around the age of four, he began to show an uncanny affinity for plants and flowers, bringing them back from the point of withering, and even seen manipulating their movement in small ways. The superstitious neighbors, who already suspected his mother of being some sort of witch, found their paranoia being fueled by this strange child.
Around the age of nine, the family home mysteriously caught fire, and only little Edward was able to escape the blaze. He spent less than a year in an orphanage, before a wealthy British couple, well known and respected in political circles, adopted him and swept him away to England. For a time, he enjoyed their affections and the privilege of an aristocratic lifestyle, before being sent to an exclusive private school. This, he did not enjoy as much, for the other children liked to tease him about his origins, taunting him about being some sort of backwoods vampire. Only one student there, Christine Gray, called "Chloe" by her friends, showed him any kindness and stood up for him. But even his new friend would be little comfort at the news that his new family had been murdered by assailants unknown. Devastated, Edward took to taking care of the school gardens in order to earn his keep, and shut himself away from Christine, convinced that she, too, would meet a bad end if she stayed near him.
Some years after graduating from the school, he was discovered by a noble by the name of Richard Krypton, who had apparently been behind his adoption in the first place. Krypton informed him that his adopted parents were in fact murdered by a secret organization that he had been fighting for some years now. Krypton himself was the founder of a small vigilante group called Kryptonbrand, who hunted such criminals, whom the law could not touch, and eliminated them. Hearing of Edward's talents, he offered him training and a place to stay, his cover being that of a florist while undertaking the role of an assassin by night. Determined to prevent anyone else from suffering the sorrow he had felt at being robbed of a family not once, but twice, Edward agreed, taking on the alias "Chloe" in honor of the one person to stand by him in his time of need. In her name, to defend the beauty of the world that she believed in, he would hunt down these black beasts and deny them their tomorrows.

- Though deeply spiritual, Chloe has no solid religious affiliation. He appreciates the sentiment behind all faiths, but he does carry one religious symbol on him at all times: a crucifix, given to him by Christine, now his most cherished possession.
