Chapter 1
"Lieutenant Shaker reporting for duty." The green recruit said in a terse military tone. The young man's hair and dress revealed him as pure military. A chill ran down Tom's spine at the sight. Despite being near sixty years old, he still retained the same vigor and strength he had in his thrities, a result of modern medicine and Gemini experimentations upon him. Shaker was the first recruit of a new secret agency developed for the burgeoning Republic that replaced the AWARE treaty.
"Duty? What is duty?" Tom responded.
Shaker looked at him curiously. "Sir?"
"You just said you're reporting for duty. What is duty?" Tom said, turning to a table filled with various pieces of military-grade equipment.
