Edmund is the third born McGregor, a middle child of sorts. Edmund is a mid-30s straight shooter, never afraid to say what is on his mind, even if it’s not what people want to hear. But, he’s also very naive to extent, not being able to see people for who they really are. He’s also deeply emotional, more so than anyone else in his family. Because of these things, he’s made some poor decisions in his life, such as a marriage that was doomed to fail from the start. When we meet Edmund, his wife, Leigh has just abandoned him with their 2 children. He struggles to learn how to be a single father and deal with his numerous emotions about the situation. He’ll eventually have to deal with Leigh’s return and a custody battle.
Edmund will eventually find a new love in a trendy fashion designer, Ava Linder, but will he be able to bring himself to fully trust her after he already had one relationship fail? Back when he attended college at Michigan State, he met Leigh Elgin, a carefree, attractive young woman who he immediately fell for. After a brief, but exciting courtship, Edmund decided to marry Leigh. Anna and Andrew immediately objected, because Edmund hadn’t known the woman long enough, but Edmund married her anyway. As soon as he completed graduate school, he came on board at McGregor as a junior accountant. Soon after Edmund and Leigh had their children, it became apparent that the marriage might now have been the best idea. Leigh started becoming more and more critical of Edmund, even when he hadn’t done anything wrong at all. For the children’s sake, both agreed to try and make the marriage work, but eventually Edmund was the only one who made any real effort to save it. When Leigh finally walks away, Edmund is stunned, but a part of him knows that it was bound to happen sooner or later.
