The youngest of Anna and Andrew’s children, she was never drawn to the corporate world like her siblings. She instead, chose to settle down and become stay at home wife and mother. She’s a kind, subdued and level-headed individual, but not exempt from making mistakes. When we meet Lynette, she has grown restless with that existence and hungers for more. Having been educated at Harvard, she decides to take her degree in management and becomes manager of Novi’s premiere upscale restaurant and club, Number 37. Being younger than her husband, Jim, Lynette has a problem communicating with him, which leads to them being at constant odds about this decision. Jim works a strenuous shift at a supermarket as a checker and is a strict traditionalist who believes the husband should be the main breadwinner in the family. The age difference was the main reason why Anna and Andrew didn’t want her to marry him; they felt that she wasn’t suited for someone who grew up in a slightly different generation than she did.
But once Lynette and Jim married, Anna and Andrew accepted the marriage, although remaining quietly concerned. Lynette had worked her way through college with stellar grades, so her parents were disappointed when she opted not to seek a career. After having two children, Lynette has finally decided to put her education to good use. This puts a strain on the marriage and Jim decides to separate from Lynette for awhile. This pushes her into the arms of Gregory Roosevelt, a doctor she had turned to for marriage counseling. Jim eventually finds out about this, how will it affect their marriage? Will Lynette be forgiven? Lynette’s affair will prove to be a major turning point in her life.
