However, if the master is brought low and starts to die, then the child will know and feel the pain that the ''parent'' is experiencing. If this pain is great enough there is a chance that the child will die with the parent vampire.

* It is possible for a male vampire to mate with a female mortal and produce children. However, in order for this to occur, the body temperature of the vampire needs to be closer to human norm. Most of the time, children of such unions spontaneously abort. Female vampires cannot bear live young. More often than not, their bodies absorb the fetus back once again. The dead cannot give birth to life. The '''only''' exception to this is if the female vampire is Pure-Blooded, then she will be able to bear children--However she will need to remain at the human norm temperature the entire time of bearing the child and be kept fed regularly daily. Vampire mothers do not produce milk like Human mothers, instead the child feeds upon it's parent's blood until it grows old enough to be able to eat solid foods and is able to feed without having to have the blood brought out via cutting.

More so perhaps to them than the rest of the lesser vampire population because the displeasure of nobility can bring down any '''Master of the City''' that the pure-blooded Clan heads are displeased with.

[edit] Types

There are two kinds of Vampires in the world of GP, the type whom were born into being vampires (See: Pure Blooded ) and those whom were bit by a vampire and turned into one (See: Turned/Embraced ), this latter is also sometimes called being Embraced by the vamp due to the appearance of the hold that the vampire sometimes has the one being turned in.

[edit] General

  • Vampires are long lived. Most are in the range of several centuries old, however there are others whom range up into thousands of centuries. They can withstand most Physical or Magical attacks, but they can be killed with a wooden stake through the heart (This is just common sense that if you're dealing with anything on this level or below, it's going to die if you stake it XD). However, thanks to modern technology, other means have been discovered. They can be sawed in half with an Uzi. They can be killed with a bullet if it is filled with silver nitrate. Injecting them with silver nitrate is also effective. They should also have their head cut off and their heart cut out and burnt, the ashes sprinkled over running water, if you want to make sure of the job.
  • Vampires will not cross freely running water without something being between them and the water in question, like a bridge or a boat. By freely running water I mean rivers, oceans and the like.
  • Vampires are unable to enter a person's personal dwelling until they have been first invited inside. Once invited inside, however, they can return whenever they wish, until the invitation is revoked. If they are in the house at the time, the removal is swift and magical, with the door opening and a wind driving them out.
  • Master Vampires possess additional powers above that of the normal vampire. They can call an animal to their aid, including lycanthropes of that animal.
  • Master of the City is a term used for the master vampire in charge of the other vampires in a city. It is a term of power, but it also gives power to the master vampire that wields that title.
  • A vampire whom was turned by a Master vampire is considered that vampire's child, however neither the child nor its sire can read each other's minds, except for the thoughts which are at the surfaces of their minds. They can however still speak mentally like a pair of telepaths to each other. However, if the master is brought low and starts to die, then the child will know and feel the pain that the parent is experiencing. If this pain is great enough there is a chance that the child will die with the parent vampire.
  • Vampires cannot face holy objects if true faith is used to back them up. Not only crosses, but also holy items from other religions. When they confront them, a bright light shines from them and the object will burn, especially if it comes in actual contact with the vampiric skin. A religious symbol can include crosses as well as miniature holy books, like the Torah.
  • It is possible for a male vampire to mate with a female mortal and produce children. However, in order for this to occur, the body temperature of the vampire needs to be closer to human norm. Most of the time, children of such unions spontaneously abort. Female vampires cannot bear live young. More often than not, their bodies reabsorb the fetus; the dead cannot give birth to life. The only exception to this is if the female vampire is Pure-Blooded, then she will be able to bear children--however she will need to remain at the human norm temperature for the entire gestation period and feed daily. Vampire mothers do not produce milk like human mothers, instead the child feeds upon its parent's blood until it grows old enough to be able to eat solid foods and is able to feed without having to have the blood brought out via cutting.
  • Some master vampires have the ability to feed by means other than blood. Most can use fear as a secondary source of "nourishment" and are called nighthags or moras. A very few are able to use lust as a source, and were once known as incubus.
  • A pomme de sang (apple of blood) is a sobriquet given by the Council to individuals who are considered willing food for the vampires. It is against the rules to kill one and the repercussions can be severe depending upon which one is killed.
  • Another way to harm a vampire is using Dead Man's Blood (blood drained from a corpse). The blood will act much as a poison to them and depending on how much you use it will make a vampire sick, weak, and in some cases even unable to move. Because of the way it works it is generally used to detain and torture the vampire rather than kill them straight away.

[edit] Pure-Blooded

  • Born as vampires, they age normally (like human children) until mature, whereupon the aging slows to less than a snail's pace. Because of this, though, pure vampires can die of old age, however such a thing is extremely rare if not virtually unheard of, due to the amount of time which would be needed to pass for the bodies to become incapable of supporting them any longer, and few vampires lead a peaceful enough life to make that likely.
  • Pure-blooded Vampires hold more power than lesser vampires, a young pure vampire holds generally around the same amount of power as a young master turned vampire. There are no 'master' pure vampires, there are only lesser pure bloods or those in a direct clan descent line.
  • Pure-blooded Vampires usually consider themselves above their lesser turned cousins of the same nature, thus they are considered the nobility of the Vampire world and are capable of bringing down any lesser vampire if they have been somehow insulted or offended by said vampire, this even applies to those whom hold titles to Cities. More so perhaps to them than the rest of the lesser vampire population because the displeasure of nobility can bring down any Master of the City that the pure-blooded Clan heads are displeased with.

[edit] Turned/Embraced

  • Turned vampires are usually (though not always) created by a Master vampire.

[edit] The Vampire Council

All vampires are subject to the rule of a group of extremely old and powerful vampires called The Council.

Members of the Council include the following:

There is one basic rule in the Council: "Thou shalt not overly draw attention to thyself." If this rule is broken in any way, the Council will deal with the one responsible for breaking it.
All members of the Council are Vampires except for two, one of whom is Fae and the other Demonic. Kakei gained his seat when he destroyed its previous holder in an incident which is not spoken of outside of closed doors. Nathaniel came to grace the council when the holder of his seat ran afoul of demonic enemies stronger than he was, finding the vampire near death he put an end to the man's misery and there upon took up the position held by him.
When the Council desires to watch someone or something without attracting any attention to the fact that it is watching, Clow will send his mind out to reside in the body of one whom is close to the event or person whom they desire to watch. While there he is able to use all of his abilities as well as all of the abilities of his host--depending upon the species of his host. By doing this he is able to use his host's senses to act as his own to learn whatever it is he desires to know.
