A while right back, a potential client presented me with some general details of the writing work he wanted me to do for his business. He then asked me to send him a proposal.
Proposal?! I panicked as I tried to ensure with him what he meant by that because I'd never done one before, at least much less a freelancer.
I must've not really wished to pursue this opportunity since I didn't bother to complete research or followup with the company after submitting a contract in place of an offer. A little time passed, I stumbled upon a write-up on writing RFPs (Obtain Proposal). Ding! The bulb continued. This person verbally gave his RFP to me and needed a written answer.
When an organization needs a task to be done by a specialist or external source, they produce a RFP. This can be a official document describing the project, how the contract companies should respond, how the suggestions is likely to be analyzed, and contact information. Usually, the organization files the submission guidelines to create it easier in order for them to evaluate answers. There are no particular standards or guidelines for making the RFP, but when performing the proposal process government agencies generally tight standards they follow.
Outside businesses browse the RFP and write a proposal (a quote) describing how they could best provide and meet those needs. The company should carefully follow the guidelines established in the RFP to avoid being taken from consideration for the project, when writing the proposal.
A normal pitch contains:
Executive summary - summary of the whole proposal
Statement of need - why project is necessary
Project information - How task is likely to be implemented and evaluated
Company information
Task routine
Budget
Conclusion
My situation was a friendly type of this. Your client gave a high level overview to me of what I may do for him. If I understood then what I know now, I would've written up a description of the client's needs and how I'd finish the job in meeting these needs.
Small enterprises may likely do a pitch in between the complex government required types and the main one I got. Many small enterprises will undoubtedly be encouraged to publish a proposal when approaching a customer. Your client may ask a proposal to be submitted by you describing what you can perform for them. In this instance, write a proposal such as the elements of a proposal and keep it short and to the stage especially when the customer is not a sizable business.
There are examples of RFPs and reactions peppered through the Web, but which you can study from depends upon the type of work involved. A suggestion can be two pages or a book as big. Depend on your chosen se and do the study to generate an unbeatable offer.
