History

Regintine became a republic after gaining independence from the Keyroleth Empire. Ever since, they've been a large economic force, though their distance from other countries keeps them from being a greater power.

Culture

Regintine is loosely based on Indonesia and other south-asian countries. The style of dress and architecture is comparable, as well as many other cultural aspects. Cuisine is similar as well, but featuring tropical fruits more prominently, and meat except fish is not easily available to commoners.

A blind-eye can be turned to almost anything, though things are rarely discussed in the open. Exclusive omosexuality is discouraged simply because children at looked at as assets; another worker in the family.

Regintine has the world's best navy, undoubtedly, which is their best advantage militarily.

Geography

Regintine is a republic made of 5 different islands. All of the islands except Agahan island are covered in thick and vibrant rainforests.

Cities

1) Port Azhant - Port Azhant is not strictly on the continent, but if it was, it would be the largest city on it. It's a massive place, that slowly sprawls out with no defining border, ending only when the rainforest that claims the rest of the island becomes too thick. The docks are definitely the busiest part of town, with ships always entering and leaving the harbor, cargo always being loaded and unloaded, at all times of day. Wealthy merchants live near this area. Most of the city however, is slums, where the standard of living is not very high. The people are poor, but relatively happy, and the crime rate is surprisingly low; commoners mostly try to get by by hones means. This city is the Capitol of Regintine, and the President of the State resides here.

2) Port Agahan - Unlike the other islands in Regitine, which are filled with rainforests, the island of Agahan is dry and inhospitable. Rocky, cragged covers the entire island. Port Agahan however, is fairly prosperous. The entire city is built upon the cliffs facing north towards Azhant island, and it's docks serve as an exchange place between Chig Nik and Azhant. Though still quite a large and crowded city, the population of this town is generally wealthier than the commoners of Azhant, Chig Nik, and Port Kwansou. It's known to be the most peaceful town in Regitine. There is a very large Winger population here, and unfortunately almost all of them are poor and have to resort to fishing or crime to make a living. The citizens of Agahan feel their city would be free of crime if not for the Wingers, so racial tensions are somewhat high.

3) Port Kwansou - Port Kwansou is a prospering city, much like Azhant. Indeed it resembles Azhant in many ways; it's ports are always active, and it's a large and bustling place. However, the commoners here are even poorer and more crowded than in Azhant, and gangs often stroll the city at night. There is a lot of harsh crime in this city, that mostly goes unpunished.

4) Chig Nik - Chig Nik is the smallest human settlement of Regintine; though still quite a huge city. Unlike the other cities however, it is not on the coast. Instead, it is built into a large crevice in the middle of the island, which is constantly mined to extract diamonds. Chig Nik indeed profits greatly from the diamond trade; however, since the diamond deposits sit in the middle of the island, and rainforest surrounds the settlement completely, trade caravans making their way towards the coast are often attacked by pirates.

5) Gatt Island - Gatt island is a relatively quiet island with only a tiny village full of Nekobolds. The Nekobolds often travel towards the larger cities in Regitine to make business, so the population always stays relatively small. Gatt Island is also said to be full of pirate hideouts.

Government

The country of Regintine is technically a republic, though elections are sloppy because not many people pay attention to it. Most of the country's inhabitants would be hard-pressed to name the current president. Regintine is certainly a capitalistic country however, and the entire economy revolves around trade. Laws are not very strictly enforced, and often the fear of social justice and retribution are the biggest deterrents.

Sub-Cultures Present

Regintine is a relatively homogeneous country. Nekobolds are very common, and Kobolds are as well, but they mostly integrate well with society.

The largest racial oddity are the wingers. They live mostly on the cliffs of Agahan Island, and many live in Port Agahan. Many have also become pirates, and often are a large part of pirate groups.

Pirates

Seeing as Regintine is a land that heavily relies on trade by ships, pirates have naturally popped up over time. The interesting thing is, that Pirates don't tend to be of Regintine appearance; they resemble people from the Nephtys Isles much more closely, and it is indeed speculated that they are descendants from immigrants from Nephtys. Wingers are also quite common in pirate groups, making up perhaps half of the pirate's numbers. Overall however, there are not many pirates left, since efforts to get rid of them have been put on by the Regintine Navy. However, a few crews seem to have hideouts on Gatt Island.
