Appearance: Giles is taller than his brother, but otherwise looks very similar, with dark hair and eyes. The real difference is in their expressions; while Gwilliam looks anywhere from serious to cheerful, Giles almost always looks wistful, depressed even.

He wears similar clothes to Gwilliam, and also wears the typical Audveran scarf. He also wears the same white tunic, but his cloak is black instead. Instead of a scythe, however, he carries around a more discrete sword.

Background: Giles childhood was as rough as his brother’s. His parents where Audveran wheat farmers that were poor even by the farming community’s standard. One winter, they ran out of firewood during a particularly cold blizzard. After his father failed to brave the storm, it came on 14 year old Giles as the eldest boy to try and save his family. While with some difficulty he was able to cut some wood and return home, he was too late to save his mother and sisters. He himself nearly died, but managed to light a small fire to save his brother Gwilliam, who then went to search for help. They were saved and taken in by a passing mercenary company that escorted caravans through the Hiam woods to Rugney.

During the time with the mercenary company, Giles became quite a fierce fighter, though he was never quite as able as his younger brother. He always had the potential, but as one of the other mercenaries put it; he, unlike Gwilliam, had a hesitancy to kill.

Giles and Gwilliam eventually left the mercenaries to work as bodyguards for Alder Rivercrest.

Personality: Giles is more outspoken than his brother, which is weird considering how much more cheerful Gwilliam is. He tries without much success to hide the sorrow in his eyes. Giles is more cynical than Gwilliam, and isn’t as able to see the good in everyone. He doesn’t like killing, but is more willing to do so than Gwilliam, especially if he thinks its to protect his brother, who is the only person Giles has left. Indeed, Giles developed his swordsmanship not because he wanted to become like the mercenaries, but because he saw how they used their skills to protect people; and he wanted to protect Gwilliam.
Wielded Weapons: Hitherto – a pretty normal sized sword, but of an unusual style. It’s completely straight and somewhat slimmer than normal, and has only one sharp edge. He uses it quite effectively. It’s also embued with a Thunder Weapon Rune.

Runes: Giles bears an Alert Rune on his right hand.
