History
The Chaldean Theocracy, more commonly known as just Chaldea, gained independence in Solis 1212, after winning the Chaldean-Secession War against the Keyroleth Empire. The county since then has had skirmishes against Keyroleth quite commonly, and the two countries hold highly unstable relationships.
Culture
Chaldea is a strange land that quickly claimed its own cultural identity. The worship of the Sun Rune governs most aspects of life. The Temple of the Sun is the largest building in the country second largest on the continent, after Castle Talpaea in Audvera. Almost all clothing is adorned by sun patterns of white and gold.
Chaldea has an extremely nationalistic culture; you are expected to live your life to benefit Chaldea as most you can. As thus, Chaldea has one of the strongest military forces on the continent. Things such as homosexuality are thus frowned upon highly. Polygamy however, is acceptable if the first wife is accepting of the second.
In dress, Chaldean's vaguely ressemble ancient Anatolian Cultures. Chaldean cuisine consists mostly of fruit, goat products, and fish. Chaldean coffee is also famed throughout the continent, and tends to be their second biggest export after gold.
Geography
Chaldea is a small but lush land, sitting on the Chaldean peninsula. Like Rugney, it also has two rivers; the Dawn River and the Twilight River, named after the sacred Dawn and Twilight Rune. These two rivers are extremely important for trade and irrigation; and rainforests grow around them. The only other cities in Chaldea besides Chaldea itself are at the springs of each of these rivers, to protect them. In between the two rivers, are fertile grassy hills perfect for farming potatoes and lettuce. The City of Chaldea also sits in between these two rivers, and uses them both for trade and transportation.
Cities
1) Chaldea City - Chaldea City is a gigantic city in between the Dawn and Twilight Rivers. It's the Capitol of Chaldea, and a world power. The Temple of the Sun sits smack in the middle of the city, and is the home of the Chaldean Crowned King and Prince. The Gardens around the Temple are said to be the most beautiful in the world. Chaldea City hosts most of the countries urban commoners.
2) Dawn City - Dawn City is home of the sacred Dawn Rune, and guards the source of the Dawn River. It's a very rich town, mostly occupied by nobility and their servants. It's a rather boring place, but very beautiful and peaceful.
3) Twilight Fortress - The Twilight Fortress guards the source of the Twilight River, and is a large stone fortress built partly in the mountains to its north. It's a large fortress dedicated mostly to military purposes, though quite a large number of commoners have set up businesses and homes here. The forces from the Twilight Fortress are responsible for fighting any border skirmishes against Keyroleth forces.
Government
The Chaldean Government is based on a hereditary process propagated by the Sun Rune. There are always three heirs to the Chaldean Throne; these heirs are trained to be rulers from birth by various tutors. Upon turning twenty, the most capable of these heirs inherits full responsibility from their father for running the Kingdom, as is known as the Crown Prince or Princess. They then engender thee children by three different wives. They continue to rule until their most capable heir turns 20, which should be around the age of 40. Their own father is then sacrificed, and they receive the Sun Rune. They officially become Sovereign of the State upon receiving the Sun Rune. During their next 20 or so years, they become more and more insane, serving only as a figurehead of the state. On their grandchild's 20th Birthday, they are then sacrificed at an Altar to the Sun Rune, and the Sun Rune is passed to the current Crown Prince. This cycle has repeated for generations, a monarch being sacrificed every 20 years. This cycle of sacrifice is required to keep Keyroleth lush and verdant.
Sub-Cultures Present
Chaldea is perhaps the most intolerant country towards other cultures.
