Appearance: Alder has an extremely unusual appearance for an Audveran; namely, he has blonde hair. This always brought him attention as he grew up Fair Heights. He was somewhat short, only standing 5’9” tall. He has a normal frame, and while he isn’t muscular he certainly isn’t out of shape.
In Audvera, Alder always wore a thick wool jacket and a scarf because of the cold weather. Now that he’s traveling he wars a less thick jacket, but usually tries to keep the scarf on due to sentimental reasons.
Background:
Alder was born the son of a shepherd, to an Audveran father and a Rugnean mother. In the village, he was known for his cheerful demeanor and blonde hair. He had a normal and happy childhood, and in his youth he helped his father as a shepherd.
However, his father died on winter when he was 16. He was caught in a blizzard, and did not make it. This is not an unusual death for those that must brave the winters of Audvera, but it still hit Alder pretty hard. Upon his father’s death, his mother decided they would move back to Rugney.
The following spring, he and his mother joined a Caravan and made the long journey to Rivercrest. To his surprise, his mother was relative of Lord Rivercrest, and they were gladly accepted into the Rivercrest Estate. His mother then revealed to him that she was Lord Rivercrest’s niece, and had run away when she was 18 to travel the world. Eventually she had ended up in Audvera and fallen in love, and had decided to stay there.
His mother gladly welcomed the life of luxury back, but Alder, accustomed to his meager life in Audvera, never really felt comfortable. The other youths in Rivercrest looked down on him because of his ‘wild’ upbringing, so he did not make any friends here.
When he was 19, he decided he would run away himself like his mother did. Not quite getting the concept, he told his mother beforehand. She wasn’t entirely at home with the idea, but she decided it would be good for him to travel. She gave him a healthy two thousand potch, hired him a body guard, and sent him on his way.
Personality: Alder has a very down to earth personality, like most people in Audvera. He’s very mature for his age, and very observant and insightful. Though he holds a lot of wisdom about the ways of the world, he isn’t very well educated and thus doesn’t know a lot of textbook knowledge.
Overall, he’s quiet person that doesn’t say a whole lot. He is very smart however, and has a photographic memory. Due to his quiet nature and lack of textbook knowledge, many people don’t see how smart he is.
Wielded Weapons: Alder is not very capable with any sort of weapon, but carries around a short sword, at the request of his mother. This short sword is actually of quite good quality, and is nicknamed ‘Wayriver’
Runes: On his left hand, he wears a common shield rune. On his right hand, an even more common water rune. He is not yet capable of equipping a rune on his forehead, though he plans on developing his magic enough to be capable of it.
