Get stuck with lots of grass

From the game True Crime for the Nintendo Gamecube

Look for a row of houses with a fence between them, with a porch in the middle of the fence. Walk close to porch and you will be in the square area of grass between the houses. It's a large area but there is no escape once you go through - as far as we know.
