"New" Option doesn't work

From the "Brick Attack" game for the Kyocera 2119b cellphone.

When you beat a level and start out the next one, press the pause button. Then, hit "New". This should let you start over from the first level, but it instead brings you to the level which you paused from. However, if you die in a further level and hit New you'll start over from the first level.
